HINDERCLAY NORFOLK HORN SHEEP

BACKGROUND

Established in 1992 with the purchase of two ewes from Gressenhall Rural Life Museum in Norfolk. These ewes were named Matilda and Priscilla and founded the Hinderclay ‘M’ and Hinderclay ‘P’ families. All the females in the flock, which fluctuated between ten and fifteen breeding ewes, were descended from these two individuals

RECENT HINDERCLAY FLOCK

Most of the retained Hinderclay flock ewes were shown as lambs or shearlings and N8919 Hinderclay M (illustrated below) is no exception.
She was Breed Champion at the 2009 Royal Show. Her dam was female Champion Suffolk county show in 2006 and her grandam was Breed Champion at the Royal Norfolk Show in 1997.

SHOW SUCCESSES

N8923 Hinderclay P is probably the best female the P family has produced.

She was second in a large class of ewe lambs at Aylsham Show in 2008, her only outing as a lamb and this year she was placed third in a huge class of shearling ewes at Suffolk County Show before taking the female Championship at the 2009 Royal Norfolk Show.
