GLANSEVIN HEREFORD CATTLE
BACKGROUND
The herd was originally established in 1998 with the purchase of two cows, Dordale Amorous 5th and Dordale Charm 2nd, from Edward Mills near Bristol.
These cows were in calf to Severvale Zeus at the time and Amorous eventually produced a bull calf who was named Glansevin Aristotle and sold to Leslie Cook (Albany).
I cannot recall the exact sequence of events which led to these being replaced by Dexters in 2003, but when I found myself reversing the position in 2014 and bought eight females from Tim Arnold in Norfolk, I was delighted to discover that several of these animals had Aristotle in their pedigrees.
Further research has revealed that the exceptional Traditional bull Laxfield Junior is out of Glansevin Jalanda, who was sold to Owen Smith in 2002. To accompany these eight females I have recently purchased the young bull Blue Cedar Lysander (AI) from Nigel Darling.
Lysander is by Westlake Lysander (AI) out of a cow by Glansevin Apollo (AI) — Apollo was by Aldersend Diamond out of Dordale Amorous 5th. Lysander won his class at the Royal Norfolk Show in 2015 and I am already in hopeful anticipation of seeing his first Glansevin calves in 2016.
