GLANSEVIN DEXTER CATTLE
BACKGROUND
This herd was established in 2003 with the purchase of two dun cows from Sussex, followed by the bull calf Woodmagic Dunfox, who was purchased from Beryl Rutherford in 2004.
The two original cows turned out to be scatty and infertile and Dunfox managed to escape on the way home from Devon and spent a few days roaming a 1000 acre wood near Taunton! However, undeterred, three more cows were purchased and the first calves were born.
The herd was made up of Woodmagic and Templeton bloodlines, which included three daughters of of Dunfox, and the aim was to produce quality small non- short Dun and Black cattle free of the bulldog gene (chondrodysplasia).
